Katie Boulter acknowledges Great Britain not having Emma Raducanu available isn't perfect but remains confident her nation can beat France in this week's Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers. This week, Great Britain will play France in Coventry on a hard court - the winner of the tie will progress into the Davis Cup Finals.
Unfortunately for the British side, they will be without their top-ranked player Raducanu - who is skipping the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers due to managing her lingering wrist issue. "Of course we're going to miss Emma.
But we're excited to have the same team as Glasgow. There was an incredible atmosphere among the team and with the support we were given, and we're all working hard to try and cause a little upset against France," Boulter told BBC Sport.
Boulter optimistic Great Britain can do well without Raducanu
Great Britain was also without Raducanu during the knockout stage of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in late 2022. Still, Great Britain managed to reach the semifinal before losing to Australia.
Against France, Great Britain will be represented by Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls. "Each and every one of us is very unique and proved ourselves in many different ways over the years.
We have all shown we can play some very good tennis - Emma included, of course - but it is another opportunity for all of us to go out there and show what we can do," Boulter added. On the other side, France is set to be led by world No 5 Caroline Garcia.
France will also be represented by Alize Cornet, Clara Burel and Kristina Mladenovic. "They are a very strong team and Garcia is a big weapon. Ultimately, you never know who is going to play and we have to be prepared - which we will be," Boulter noted.
