Qualifier Xinyu Wang 'thrilled' to face No. 1 seed Emma Raducanu in Linz

Qualifier Xinyu Wang is extremely excited about facing Emma Raducanu in Linz as she is hoping to deliver her best tennis and stun the US Open champion. Wang, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 106 in the world, is set to meet No.

1 seed Raducanu in the Linz round-of-16. Wang has already won three matches in Linz, while Raducanu is set for her opener at the tournament. "I’m happy that I get the chance to play her (Raducanu) and I will just try to enjoy it and play my tennis,” Wang said, per Tennishead.

“Girls’ tennis has always been not a huge gap between players that are in the Top 20 or Top 100, or even 150. I think it’s just a few matches that gives you confidence. “I think everybody can play so there are no easy matches and everybody can win if you believe in yourself and believe in your shots”.

Raducanu hints she has found her new coach

Raducanu split with coach Andrew Richardson following her US Open victory but in Linz indicated that she has found a replacement. However, she refused to reveal the name. “I’m going to have someone in place and I’m really excited to get some good work done in pre-season.

We’re going to have a really good time for sure but also, I feel like we’re going to get a good bit of work done. I think my game is going to be moving in the right direction, so I’m pretty excited for that.

“In the pre-season, when I start at the end of this month we’ll put some good work together and that’s probably when I’ll first get on court again. In the meantime, I’m just feeling good about things and where it’s going.

It’s just a bit confidential. I mean, it’s my decision. It’s not like fully done (but) it’s just in a good place."
