Another Pole, wildcard Maja Chwalinska also advanced to the second round.

The 162nd ranked Chwalinska won 7-5, 6-2 against Spanish qualifier Rebeka Masarova after an hour and 44 minutes of play. Chwalinska won 56% of her first-serve points to her opponent's 52% and 52% other second-serve points to the latter's 44%.

She didn’t face a single break point and converted five of the six break points she had on her opponent’s serve. Katerina Siniakova won a Czech derby against qualifier Jesika Maleckova to reach the second round.

Siniakova prevailed 6-2, 6-4 and could play either seventh seed Nuria Parrizas Diaz or Ana Bogdan next. Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic took her place in the second round after notching a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win over Dutch qualifier Ariane Hartono.

For a place in the quarter-finals of the Poland Open, Golubic will play either Kristina Mladenovic or eighth seed, Anna Bondar.
