Google News Ladies Open Lausanne: Mirra Andreeva posts strong win against Dayana Yastremka in R32

Mirra Andreeva’s first tournament on tour since her Wimbledon round-of-16 exit was at the Ladies Open Lausanne. On Monday, the 16-year-old won her first-round match in the Swiss event against Dayana Yastremska. The sixth seed clinched a 6-0, 6-2 win after just 65 minutes of play.
Andreeva won 65% of her first-serve points and 67% points on return on Yastremska’s first serve. Both players won a fraction of their second-serve points. Andreeva won nine of the 21 points played on her second serve while her rival won eight of 22.
The world no. 64 faced three break points and saved one of these while converting seven of 10 break points on Yastremska’s serve. After her win, speaking on-court, among other things Andreeva shared, “Til the end of the year, to be top-50.
If I can do it, that would be amazing for me, for sure”. She then joked, “If not, I have maybe 20 more years to do that”.

In the second round, Andreeva’s opponent will be Anna Bondar.
The Hungarian won against Spain’s Aliona Bolsova 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 27 minutes. Eighth seed Elina Avanesyan also reached the second round. Avanesyan’s opponent retired in their match after 38 minutes of play.
Avanesyan was leading 6-2, 2-0 when Rodina’s mid-match retirement gave her a passage into the next round. Argentine Julia Riera moved into the second round of the WTA 250 event, too. The world no. 143 defeated Romanian Patricia Maria Tig 6-2, 6-1 in 71 minutes.
In the second round, Riera will play either Swiss wildcard Celine Naff or second seed, Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Meanwhile, another Swiss player, Jil Teichmann made it to the second round of Ladies Open Lausanne.
Teichmann defeated Erika Andreeva 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 17 minutes. Teichmann won 80% of her first-serve points and saved all three break points she faced. She also converted four of six break points she had on Andreeva’s serve. Photo Credit: The Tennis Letter Twitter
