Gael Monfils was all happy for Elina Svitolina as he praised his wife's "amazing" performance against Victoria Azarenka. On Monday, both Monfils and Svitolina were in action in Washington. The first on the court was Svitolina, who defeated Belarus' Victoria Azarenka 7-6 (2) 6-4.
After Svitolina won, Monfils also enjoyed a victorious day as he defeated Bjorn Fratangelo 6-3 6-4. “Elina had a tough match. She played amazing. I was super happy for her. Of course now, I won. It’s gonna be a chill night," Monfils said.
Monfils, 36, missed a notable time last year due to injuries and this year also hasn't been the greatest for the Frenchman when it comes to his health.Andrea Krasny: “I can’t remember the last time I saw 2 wild card husband & wife enter a tournament & won both of their opening rounds

Monfils, who will be turning 37 in September, hinted he could be soon ending his career. “I feel Elina will play much longer than me. It might be one of my last tournaments in the States. Maybe next year. We don’t know.
But soon. But I may come back to support Elina with the baby. So you’ll see me around," Monfils said.

Monfils took care of Skai during Wimbledon
Since Monfils was still recovering from an injury, he didn't play at Wimbledon.
Instead, Monfils stayed at home and took care of his daughter Skai. Meanwhile, Svitolina enjoyed a great Wimbledon as the Ukrainian made the semifinal before losing to Marketa Vondrousova. After one of her wins at Wimbledon, Svitolina joked Monfils was tired of parenting responsibilities back home.
“He wants me to come back because he’s really tired (smiling). But it’s okay. He’s like, Okay, you’re playing well, so it’s okay. So yeah, he’s enjoying [it]. He’s now home with two of our moms, as well.
There is a big team taking care of Skai right now," Svitolina said at Wimbledon. Svitolina, 28, certainly has at least a couple of more years left in her so Monfils can certainly expect more parenting duties in the future.
