It will be the first seed versus the second seed on Sunday to in the title-round of the Jasmin Open. On Saturday, in the semi-final, Jasmine Paolini, the highest seed, was the first to clinch her place in the last round. Later, the second-highest seeded Mertens joined her later.
Paolini got through against fourth seed Lesia Tsurenko after two hours and 25 minutes. The Italian pocketed a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win. Paolini finished the match by winning 60% of her first-serve points to her opponent’s 49%.
She won 46% of her second-serve points to Tsurenko’s 33%. The match was a galore of break point chances with the two rivals combining to create 41 break point chances. Of these, 24 were faced by Paolini and she saved 19 of these.
Tsurenko saved nine of the 17 break points she faced.

Meanwhile, in her meeting against Clara Burel, Mertens had an easier outing as she wrapped up a 6-2, 6-1 win within 90 minutes.
Mertens won 63% of her first-serve points and 48% of her second-serve points. She won 60% points on first-serve return and 72% points on second-serve return on the Frenchwoman’s serve. The Jasmin Open final will be the fifth time Jasmine Paolini and Elise Mertens will be playing against each other with the latter having won all but one of their four previous match-ups.
