Elisabetta Cocciaretto won her opening-round match at the Ladies Open Lausanne. The 22-year-old, who’s the second seed this week in Switzerland, beat home wildcard, Celine Naef in two hours and 20 minutes. Cocciaretto came from a set down, too, clinching a 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-2 win.

Cocciaretto won 55% of her first-serve points to her opponent’s 57% and 51% of her second-serve points. She went to win 61% of points on return on Naef’s second serve. The world no. 42 saved six of 13 break points she faced while converting seven break points.

In the next round, Cocciaretto will play Julia Riera, who’d won her first round on Monday.

Ladies Open Lausanne: Emma Navarro plays as if in a tearing hurry

Fifth seed Emma Navarro cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over France’s Leolia Jeanjean in their first-round encounter.

The American needed merely 53 minutes to pocket the win. Navarro won 76% of her first-serve points and 52% points on return on Jeanjean’s first serve. She also won 11 of 17 points played on her second serve while winning 16 of 19 points played on the latter’s second serve.

The world no. 53 didn’t face any break point and converted six of eight break points on Jeanjean’s serve. In the second round, Navarro will play Jeanjean’s compatriot, Clara Burel. Burel got past Serbian Olga Danilovic 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 39 minutes.

Burel saved three of five break points she faced and converted five break points. She finished the match with 72 points to Danilovic’s 61. On Tuesday, French players did have quite a good run with Diane Parry and Chloe Paquet also picking up wins.

Parry, the ninth seed here, defeated fellow countrywoman Fiona Ferro in a three-set clash that lasted two hours and 10 minutes. Parry won 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. Earlier, Parry had replaced the top seed Irina-Camelia Begu at the top of the draw.

Next up for her will be Montenegrin, Danka Kovinic. Kovinic won against Swiss lucky loser Jenny Duerst, 6-0, 6-2. Paquet clinched a win against fellow qualifier, Hungary’s Reka Luca Jani, 7-5, 6-2. Lastly, in another qualifiers’ derby at the Ladies Open Lausanne, Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic beat Greece’s Valentini Grammatikopoulou, 7-6(11), 6-2.
