Liudmila Samsonova sounds off on Montreal scheduling after brutal final loss

Liudmila Samsonova wasn't happy with the scheduling in Montreal after being forced to play her semifinal and final matches on the same day. Due to rain, Samsonova's Montreal semifinal match against Elena Rybakina had to be pushed from Saturday to Sunday.

After completing a 1-6 6-1 6-2 win over Rybakina on Sunday, Samsonova booked a final meeting against Jessica Pegula. Approximately two hours after completing her match against Rybakina, Samsonova found herself again on the court.

Samsonova didn't stand any chance in the Montreal final as Pegula dismantled the Russian 6-1 6-0. After the match, Samsonova revealed she asked to at least have more time after the Rybakina match but that request wasn't granted.

Samsonova not happy with scheduling in Montreal

"The fact is that everyone saw that the forecast was at 6 pm would be raining, so I knew that. But, of course, it's strange that the people don't care so much about us, you know, because if you know that you must I think, this is my opinion, to make a schedule where it's possible to play because we already made two matches in one day.

So you have to try to do the best to don't play two matches in another day. This is my opinion. Honestly, I would love to have more time, but they said that it's not possible, so it's okay. You know, I didn't have time to regenerate because I was in the physio room trying to tape all my body, and it takes one hour for this.

So I don't know what to say. I was out of the court and then again in, and I don't know. It was strange," Samsonova said. Now, Samsonova is set to compete at a WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati. In Cincinnati, Samsonova will be starting her campaign against rising star Linda Noskova.
