Iga Swiatek breaks Coco Gauff's 16-match winning streak in Beijing to reach her eighth WTA 1000 final. The Polish tennis player number 2 in the world defeated the recent winner of the US Open, ending her amazing streak, and reaching the final of the China Open, where she will challenge Liudmila Samsonova.

Here is the match point:

The match

Iga Swiatek beat Cori Gauff 6-2 6-3 in a dominated match.

With this result, the Pole still has the chance to end the season as number 1. She also reached the 20th final of her career, the 7th of 2023.

On the eve of the match, Gauff was 1-7 head-to-head against her opponent and, even today, the trend has not changed.

Furthermore, the two tennis players have faced each other four times this season, with Swiatek winning in Dubai and at the Roland Garros, and Gauff the most recent challenge, in Cincinnati.

Swiatek got break points in the American's first two rounds of service, and in the third game she took the lead.

A winning backhand return seals the 2-1 and service for Swiatek. Her backhand down the line continues to give her points, while Gauff struggles from the baseline. Iga is also lethal with her serve, and in three rounds of serve she only loses three points and in 30 minutes we are 5-1.

Swiatek got the first set point in response, canceled out with an ace at 195 km/h, and in the next game, on serve, she closed the first set 6-2.

In the second set, a medical time-out due to a problem perhaps with Gauff's right shoulder impacted the American tennis player's performance, but the feeling is that the Polish tennis player number 2 in the world and seeded also dominated the second side of the game.

Probably, the young US star's physical condition was unstable in this match: the hope is to see her in top physical shape for the WTA Finals in Cancun.
