Zheng Qinwen and Barbora Krejcikova shared a funny moment ahead of their Zhengzhou final meeting as they had a bit of a hard time deciding who was going to pick the side of the coin during the coin toss. Krejcikova, the 2021 French Open champion, left to Zheng to decide which side of the coin she wanted.
Instead of choosing, 21-year-old Zheng told Krejcikova she was fine with her picking the side of the coin. Chair umpire Marija Cicak jokingly reacted by saying: “Girls, someone needs to choose!" Krejcikova then made the pick and the coin toss finally happened.
Zheng won the coin toss and elected to receive serve.

Zheng defeated Krejcikova to win Zhengzhou
Zheng, one of the most promising young players on the WTA Tour, came back from a set down to beat former world No 2 Krejcikova 2-6 6-2 6-4 in the Zhengzhou final.
Zheng started the final with an early break and had a 2-0 before Krejcikova won six games in a row to overturn the deficit and clinch the first set. Zheng bounced back in the second set, breaking Krejcikova in the first and seventh games to routinely win the set and force a decider.
In the third set, Zheng was twice up by a break but Krejcikova recovered and the two were tied to four games apiece after the first eight games of the set. Then, Zheng earned her third break of the set in the ninth game for a 5-4 lead before serving out for the match in the following game.
Zheng captured her first WTA 500 title in Zhengzhou and now has three WTA titles in her collection. "That was such a special experience, to win my first 500 in China. Especially in Zhengzhou. I want to thank the crowd for supporting me tonight.
It was an amazing atmosphere. Thanks to my team. I can’t do it without all of you. You guys really support me in the tough moments," Zheng said after landing the Zhengzhou title.
