Barbora Krejcikova reveals it was Katerina Siniakova who decided to end things between them in a doubles split that left the tennis world stunned.

Together, Krejcikova and Siniakova formed one of the most formidable doubles duos on the WTA Tour, winning seven Grand Slams - a WTA Finals title - and making it all the way at the Tokyo Olympics. But after the 2023 season ended, it was reported that the two would not continue as a doubles pair in 2024.

At this past Australian Open, the two clashed against each other as Siniakova and Storm Hunter came back from a set down to beat Krejcikova and Laura Siegemund 4-6 7-5 6-4. After the match, Krejcikova and Siniakova barely acknowledged each other at the net and gave each other a very cold handshake.

While things don't seem to be the best between the two, Krejcikova is open to reuniting with Siniakova and potentially playing with her at this year's Paris Olympics. But in order for that to happen, Siniakova must approach Krejcikova.

Krejcikova reveals details of a shock split with Siniakova

“Last year when we were splitting and she told me she wanted to go in a different direction, we brought up this topic [of competing at the Olympics]. This decision [to split] was Katerina’s, not really mine – I would love to play with her and I would love to compete at the Olympics with her," Krejcikova told The National

“So, it’s more on her to actually approach me and to talk to me about it, to see how she feels. I’m very open to reuniting and playing the Olympics together, but it’s more on her right now.”

Last year, Krejcikova and Siniakova started the 2023 season by winning their seventh Grand Slam doubles title at the Australian Open. In the remainder of the year, Krejcikova and Siniakova also won a WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells and went all the way in San Diego.
