The great Australian heat wave is already putting a strain on some tennis players during the first round of the Melbourne Slam. A small misadventure happened to Constant Lestienne during the complicated challenge with the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

The Frenchman stopped in a change of court, at 4-6, 4-5, and collapsed to the ground. The 31-year-old was starting to feel unwell, so much so that he vomited into a bin located near him. An ugly scene starring the French tennis player, who suffered quite a bit from the high temperatures and the effort to try to keep up with the Iberian.

Despite the difficulties, Lestienne managed to resume and finish the match: the 24-year-old however prevailed in three sets, winning the second 6-4 and the third set with a score of 7-5. Another round on favorable paper now awaits Davidovich, who will be engaged against the Portuguese Nuno Borges.

Meanwhile, here is the video of what happened on court 8, published on social networks by Eurosport Italy.

Daniil Medvedev also criticizes the strong heat

The ATP world number 3 Daniil Medvedev also spoke on the topic at the press conference.

The Russian blamed the weather conditions a bit during his match and highlighted at the end of the match: "It wasn't the warmest day I've experienced in Australia but we were coming from a period in which the temperatures weren't very high.

The body noticed the change. I'm happy I was able to resolve it one way or another. I tried not to show my weaknesses and to stay mentally strong," he said. Speaking of the women's tournament, however, a positive debut for Ons Jabeu.

The Tunisian, seeded number 6 in the draw, conceded just 4 games to the Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtsewa and beat the very young Russian Mirra Andreeva in the second round. However, the journey of the two-time Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka is over, also thanks to an unlucky draw.

The Japanese girl absolutely did not disfigure, showing a good level of tennis overall, against Caroline Garcia, who prevailed 6-4, 7-6.
