Hate in sports is a horrible plague that affects many athletes, as recently happened to Marketa Vondrousova, defended by her colleague Daria Seville. The Wimbledon winner was in fact attacked by many haters on social media, after her premature elimination at the 2023 China Open.
The Czech tennis player had to face many hate messages, and the Australian tennis player Seville came out in support of her. Vondrousova was defeated in three sets by Anhelina Kalinina, in Beijing, even though she had won the first set 6-1.
The young and strong tennis player was overwhelmed by a disgusting wave of hatred. She then published the hateful comments and messages she received from her haters, writing in her post: "Here we go again."
Saville, in defense of his colleague, posted on X: "Part of my pre match routine is to turn off comments on my IG.
I also set my messages so literally no one can reach me which sucks cause I've missed so many messages from players and brands."

Vondrousova: "It was incredible to have won Wimbledon"
Marketa Vondorusova was the protagonist of one of the biggest surprises of recent years.
The Czech won her first Slam by beating an unrecognizable Ons Jabeur in the Wimbledon final, and became the tennis player with the lowest ranking, she was in 42nd position in the rankings on her debut, to win the Championships.
Her success on the lawns of the All England Club allowed her to reach the top 10 for the first time in her career.
Vondrousova said of her incredible victory: "It's impossible for me to even dream of success at Wimbledon, perhaps because I grew up on clay. In the past I had played well on hard courts, but I had never felt comfortable on grass; a very difficult surface to compete on.
In previous seasons I played a couple of matches at Wimbledon, nothing more.
When we got here, I thought: Okay, I'll try to win some games and take a step further. Seeing me here now is incredible. No one will ever be able to take this title away from me; I won a Slam.
You're a little calmer because you know you've already achieved the big goal. Even if everyone wants more: this will be my goal from now on. At the moment they are already in the top 10.
I think now the others will want to beat me, it will be like having a target on their back.
In the first final I played I was still a little girl.
It was too much for me. I think Ashleigh Barty played without tension and just destroyed me. I couldn't even enjoy that moment, I was 19, it was an incredible situation for me.
