Sumit Nagal Reaches Career Best Ranking of No. 129

India's Sumit Nagal has climbed six spots to No. 129 in the world rankings - his best career ranking so far - in the latest ATP list published on Monday. Nagal, who is 22 years old, reached the semi-finals of the ATP Challenger event in Brazil last week which helped him climb to the No.

This was his first appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam event in his career. Prior to last week, Nagal won the ATP Challenger title in Buenos Aires and reached a final of another Challenger event in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

He also reached the semi-finals of five ATP Challenger events prior to the US Open which has helped him climb from No. 361 at the beginning of the year to No. 129 currently. He is currently the second-highest ranked Indian in the world after Prajnesh Gunneswaran who is currently ranked No.

82 in the rankings. With a few more weeks left on the ATP circuit for this year, Nagal will be hoping to make the Top 100 for the first time in his career. Nagal turned pro in 2015 and has been working under the guidance of former Indian No.

1 doubles star Mahesh Bhupathi. His efforts this year have earned him more than $100,000 in prize money, taking his overall prize money to more than $226,000.
