Australian tennis player James Duckworth has admitted that he is disappointed with Lleyton Hewitt's choice to snub him out of a spot in the Davis Cup Finals. Duckworth, 29, is playing the tennis of his life and he was expected to make the Australian team for the Davis Cup Finals.
Instead, Australian Davis Cup team captain Hewitt nominated Alex de Minaur, John Millman, Alexei Popyrin and John Peers for the Davis Cup Finals. Duckworth is currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 51 in the world and he is the second-best ranked Australian tennis player.
"Obviously I am disappointed. I got the call from Lleyton (Hewitt) last week. He went with the other players ahead of me. That was his decision," Duckworth Darren Walton.

Late last month, Duckworth made the Astana Open final in Nur-Sultan.
Back then, Duckworth fell just short of winning his maiden ATP title as he lost to Sonwoo Kwon in the final. Duckworth had his chances against Kwon but he failed to capitalize and the South Korean claimed a 7-6 (6) 6-3 win.
“I am really happy to win my first ATP 250 title,” Kwon said, per the ATP website. “I am just really really happy to win today. It was a tough match today against James. He served really well and played very well and I tried to focus every single point, “It was a fantastic tournament and it has been an honour to play here." After ending runner-up in Nur-Sultan, Duckworth's form did drop a little bit.
Since then, Duckworth made the Sofia quarterfinal but also lost in the Indian Wells Masters first round. In his last two tournaments played, Duckworth lost in the Moscow round-of-16 and suffered a first round exit at this week's St. Petersburg Open. Duckworth has never played in a Davis Cup tie.
