Rising Austrian star Jurij Rodionov has received a wildcard into Kitzbuhel, per Lukas Zagreb. The 20-year-old is set to make his second consecutive main draw appearance on the clay courts of Kitzbuhel. Rodionov failed to make it past the Kitzbuhel qualifying two years ago as he was beaten in the first round by German Maximilian Marterer.
The Austrian debuted at the Kitzbuhel event last year after winning two qualifying matches to earn a place in the main draw. The 20-year-old fought hard in his Kitzbuhel main draw debut but still failed to clinch his first win at the tournament.
Rodionov bageled fellow compatriot Dennis Novak to force a decider in their Kitzbuhel first round match but failed to complete a comeback as the 25-year-old won 6-4 0-6 6-1. Rodionov, ranked at No. 272 in the world, played his first ATP event of the season last week in 's-Hertogenbosch.
The Austrian, who was given a wildcard by the 's-Hertogenbosch organizers, failed to kick off his grass season with a win as he lost to American Taylor Fritz in the first round. The Kitzbuhel event is set to be held from July 29 - August 03.
