Hungarian qualifier Marton Fucsovics couldn't hide his happiness after delivering a big performance against Croatian Borna Coric and progressing into the Rotterdam final. Fucsovics, ranked at No. 59 in the world, dropped just five games en route to beating Coric 6-4 6-1 for his maiden ATP 500 level final.
Fucsovics blew an early first set break but then broke Coric once again in the seventh game, before saving two break points in the 10th game to serve out for the opener. After losing the first set, Coric's game fell apart as Fucsovics claimed three breaks in the second set to earn a straight-set win.
"I am very happy. [This is the] first ATP 500 final in my career,” Fucsovics said in an on-court interview, per the ATP website. “[I came from] qualifying. All the week, I was playing very solid and serving well. I am enjoying this week.
"When I went on the court, I just tried to play relaxed, enjoy the match and make the best out of it."
Fucsovics plays Andrey Rublev in the Rotterdam final
Fucsovics will be battling against Rublev in the Rotterdam final as the third-seeded Russian beat No.
2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas to make the final at the tournament. “Andrey Rublev is playing unbelievable nowadays, especially in the ATP 500s. He didn’t lose a match for a long time,” said Fucsovics. “It is going to be an interesting final.
I will try to play my best and enjoy this moment”. Meanwhile, Rublev underlined that his goal is to finish the week with a title. “[I play tennis] to play at the best level, to play at the best tournaments, to try to compete, then to go deep and to try to win them," Rublev said in an on-court interview. "A final is always special, so I am going to try to do my best tomorrow”.
