ATP Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic eases past Marton Fucsovics to sail into semis

World no. 1 Novak Djokovic is through to his tenth Wimbledon semi-final thanks to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Marton Fucsovics in two hours and 16 minutes. It was another reliable performance from the five-time champion, who lost serve once and produced six breaks to cross the finish line in straight sets and secure his 100th ATP win on grass, also the 19th in a row at the All England Club.

Despite hitting more unforced errors than service winners, Novak dominated with the first serve and tamed his strokes good enough to leave the rival behind and move two victories from the 20th Major title. The Serb raced into a 5-0 lead in the opener before losing ground a bit, securing the set only on his sixth set point for 6-3.

The Hungarian lost serve right at the start when his forehand found the net before Novak opened a 3-0 advantage. Marton played a terrible stroke at the net in the fourth game to find himself further down, still seeking that opening game and some momentum.

Serving at 0-5 after just over 20 minutes, Fucsovics avoided a bagel after fending off two set points, getting his name on the scoreboard and breaking Djokovic in the next one after erasing two more set points.

Battling for every point, the lower-ranked player survived the fifth set point in the eighth game before Novak held at 15 at 5-3 to wrap up the first part of the encounter.

Marton escaped another poor return game at the beginning of the second set, fending off four break chances and following Novak's pace until 4-4. The Hungarian sent a backhand long in that ninth game to suffer a break and push the world's leading player in front.

Serving for the set, Djokovic fired a service winner at 5-4 to clinch the set and move closer to the finish line after 90 minutes of play. Carried by that momentum, Novak secured another break at the beginning of the third set and survived four break points in the next one to establish the lead.

At 3-2, Djokovic grabbed another extended rally to save a break point and closed the game with two powerful serves for 4-2. The Serb sealed the deal with a service winner in the tenth game for his tenth Wimbledon semi-final from 16 trips to London.
