Novak Djokovic will play in the Roland Garros third round for the 18th consecutive year! A two-time champion in Paris faced Marton Fucsovics in the second round and earned a 7-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory in two hours and 44 minutes during the night session on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Thus, the Serb secured his 87th Roland Garros win and the 343rd at Majors, moving closer to a milestone and hoping to achieve it at Wimbledon. Novak and Marton played the best set at this year's Roland Garros in the opener, exchanging punches for almost an hour and a half before Djokovic prevailed in the tie break.

It gave him a massive boost, and he stormed over the opponent in sets two and three to seal the deal in what could have been another late-night marathon in the French capital. Both players earned 12 break chances, and Novak played better in the crucial moments.

He saved nine break points and broke the opponent eight times to build an essential advantage.

The Serb had 28 winners and 32 unforced errors, overpowering the rival in the shortest rallies up to four strokes.

Novak held after deuces in the encounter's first game and scored a break in the next one for an early advantage. The Serb held at love in the third game to confirm the lead and settle into a fine rhythm. Fucsovics fended off a break chance in the fourth game to get his name on the scoreboard and start his comeback.

Novak survived four break points in the fifth game to remain in front and faced three break points at 4-2. World no. 3 denied them for another significant hold and 5-2. Marton raised his level and held at love in game eight to prolong the set.

The Hungarian pulled the break back at the last moment in game nine, producing another perfect hold for 5-5 and a boost. Novak grabbed the 11th game after deuce and created a set point on the return in the next one. Marton denied it and brought the game home after some great points to introduce a tie break.

Djokovic stayed calm and earned three mini-breaks to take the break 7-2 and survive a massive scare. After an incredible battle, Fucsovics lost the ground in the second set, serving at 45% and failing to take at least a game.

Djokovic delivered a bagel and became the favorite to emerge at the top in the third set. It kicked off with back-to-back breaks, and Novak shifted into a higher gear from 1-2 to rattle off four straight games and forge a 5-2 advantage.

Marton pulled one break back in game eight to prolong the duel before Novak broke him again in game nine to seal the deal and move into the next round.
