Promising Norwegian Casper Ruud admits that he badly wants to clinch a spot in the French Open main draw. Ruud, 19, is through to the final French Open qualifying round. The Norwegian picked up two straight-set wins over Thiago Monteiro in round one and Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros in round two, respectively.
World No. 158 Ruud will be fighting against promising French Alexandre Muller for a place in the French Open main draw. "When it's a Grand Slam, it's a bit different for all the players, especially with me, where I'm used to playing Challengers, it's quite a big difference,” Ruud said.
"I think a lot of those in qualifying are in the same situation, dying to make the main draw." Ruud failed to make it past the French Open qualifying a year ago. Back then, the Norwegian lost to France's Maxime Janvier in round two.
Ruud had his Grand Slam debut in January at Melbourne Park. Back then, Ruud won three qualifying and his Australian Open first round match before he lost to Argentine Diego Schwartzman in round two. Also read: Ernests Gulbis badly wants to clinch spot in French Open main draw
