Wimbledon: Carlos Alcaraz beats Alexander Muller, the Highlights

Carlos Alcaraz had many problems, but he managed to beat the courageous and determined Alexandre Muller in three sets, with the score 6-4 7-6( 2) 6-3, reaching the third round of Wimbledon 2023. It took the Spaniard several minutes to figure out which game scheme to use to best deal with Muller's aggression.

In the first set, the Spanish young star averted the danger by canceling three break points at 2-2 and surprised his opponent in response in the seventh game: the Frenchman sent his backhand over the baseline. Both saved a complicated innings in the second set and only the tie-break changed the balance.

Alcaraz behaved like a true champion and found the double advantage by dominating 7-2. Muller didn't start the third set very well; Alcaraz, however, did not take advantage of it. The definitive turning point came at 4-3, when the Spaniard struck his rival with a fantastic forehand.

In the last game, the serve got Alcaraz out of trouble. Here are the highlights from the match, shared on the Wimbledon YouTube page:

Jannik Sinner beat Quentin Halys in comeback with the score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.

Sinner experienced a complicated start to the game and, after wasting a break point in the third game, he gave up his serve by missing a comfortable forehand. The Frenchman turned out to be flawless and took the well-deserved advantage.

The Italian raised his level and immediately picked up three games in a row in the second set; a departure that allowed him to play more calmly and even the score with a further break. A painful double fault broke the balance found by both serving in the third set.

Halys took care of hitting him at 2-3. Sinner unexpectedly pulled the plug in the early stages of the fourth set: the Frenchman took advantage of it and took it 2-0 in a few minutes. The immediate counter break relaunched Sinner again, who first saved himself with a providential winning service and then signed the definitive break at 4-4.

For the second year in a row, the Italian will play in the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Alexander Zverev will be Matteo Berrettini's opponent in the third round of the Championships. The German, after finding himself an equal set against Yosuke Watanuki, didn't let himself be influenced by the score and literally swept the Japanese off the court with a double 6-2.
