Stefanos Tsitsipas reacts to thrashing Jaume Munar in Barcelona

Top-ranked Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas made a dominant start to his campaign at the Barcelona Open as he handed a 6-0 6-2 loss to home favorite Jaume Munar on Wednesday. Tsitsipas, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No.

5 in the world, had a first round bye at the tournament before he faced Munar in the second round. Tsitsipas absolutely dominated the first set as he claimed three breaks and faced no break points in the opener. Munar served out his opening two service games in the second set and also had two break points in the third game but failed to convert.

Tsitsipas then collected back-to-back breaks to win the second set and book a straight-set win. “It’s great to be able to play tennis like this today, even with a little rain in the second set,” said Tsitsipas, per the ATP website.

“I think I dealt with the situation well. I was serving well and felt comfortable from the baseline. I tried to be aggressive. My shots were working and I was trying to hit winners from all parts of the court”.

Tsitsipas hoping to continue his great form

On Sunday, Tsitsipas beat Andrey Rublev in the Monte Carlo Masters final to lift his maiden Masters title.

"Nerve-wracking. It wasn't easy. I had to play great tennis to reach that moment of the match. It was all about fighting in the end. The last point was just trying to play as deep as possible, press if the ball comes short. Yeah, I was doing exactly what I had to.

The intentions were right. That gave me the last shot, which landed out," Tsitsipas said of winning his maiden Masters title. "I think the rest, I just can't describe it. It was unbelievable. So many things went through my head.

So many memories came back from when I was a child. It's incredible. "I like expressing myself and showing emotion. I've seen players not react to their wins like this. It makes me feel good about myself. I need that."
