Jaume Munar: Just received the third dose, I encourage you all to take the vaccine

Jaume Munar has received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and he has encouraged others to take the jab. On Monday, Munar suffered a tight loss to Aslan Karatsev in his Melbourne opener. Karatsev, who entered the match as the favorite, struggled against Munar but in the end won 3-6 7-6 (1) 6-7 (3) 6-4 6-4.

On Wednesday, Munar and his partner Alejandro Davidovich Fokina were beaten by Jason Kubler and Christopher O'Connell in their doubles at Melbourne Park. After finishing his Australian Open campaign, Munar returned to Spain and took the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"I just got the 3rd vaccine, just arrived from Australia. How lucky, how fast and how easy. I encourage you all to do it!" Munar tweeted.

Munar joins Andy Murray

Just days before the start of the new season, Murray received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Got my 3rd microchip injected into me today. Joking aside..science is the best. Thank you scientists, thank you doctors and health care workers for the incredible work you are doing," Murray tweeted in late December. After taking the third dose, Murray explained why he was such an advocate for taking the vaccine.

"The lady who gave me my third jab, she works in the hospital in Central London, and she told me that every single person that is in ICU and on ventilators are all people that are unvaccinated," Murray claimed. "So to me, it makes sense, you know, for people to go ahead and have it done.

Yes, most young, sort of healthy athletes are probably going to be okay, but yeah, we've all got to play our part in this one, I think." Munar went 3-3 during the Australian summer. In his first tournament of the season, Munar made the Melbourne Summer Set quarterfinal.

Munar then appeared in Adelaide 2, where he was beaten in the round-of-16. Munar's final destination in Australia was Melbourne Park.
