Carlos Alcaraz is no longer the youngest tennis player in the top 100

Carlos Alcaraz from this week is not only no longer the world number one in the ATP world rankings, overtaken again by Novak Djokovic, but he is no longer even the youngest tennis player to serve in the top 100 of the world rankings.

In fact, thanks to his triumph last week at the Sanremo Challenger 100 in the final against the expert Varillas, the very young French tennis player Luca Van Assche ousted the former Spanish world number one from the throne of this special ranking.

The French tennis player from Woluwe-Saint Lambert in Belgium is born in 2004 and will turn 19 on May 11, while Carlos Alcaraz is one year and a few days older than him.

Luca Van Assche, a young prodigy that everyone likes

The very young Frenchman tennis player has been talking a lot of good already for a good period now.

Van Assche, who is engaged this week in the ATP 250 in Estoril in Portugal, has put in his career so far a 15k in France but above all three Challengers (one last season in Maia) and two conquered in Pau and precisely in Sanremo.

Already last season, when he had turned 18 a few months ago, people began to speak highly of him especially for the three Challenger finals he lost in the space of almost two months, of which the first ever in Lisbon on red clay against Marco Cecchinato.

If instead we look at Italy, currently the blue tennis player under 20 who has the highest ranking is Luca Nardi. The tennis player from Pesaro, who didn't start the season very well losing 31 positions this week, is still number 161 in the world.

The young Italian is also engaged this week in the same tournament as Van Assche in Estoril and many insiders talk about him as one of the most ready of the Italian next gen to climb positions and enter the top 100 in the world.

Returning instead to Carlos Alcaraz, the Murcian tennis player born in 2003, had to forfeit the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo a few hours ago, which will be staged from next week. The young Spaniard will therefore have to postpone again the fight for the primacy of the world ranking, led by Novak Djokovic.
