Gael Monfils acknowledged he and his wife Elina Svitolina have been making sacrifices throughout the year to make it possible to compete while also taking good care of their one-year-old baby Skai. During the grass season - where Svitolina made the Wimbledon semifinal - Monfils stayed at home to take care of Skai.

Since the US Open, Monfils has appeared in a couple of tournaments while Svitolina hasn't played since the final Grand Slam of the year. Last week in Stockholm, Monfils won his first ATP title since 2022 January and Svitolina and his family were there to celebrate the special moment - but daughter Skai wasn't.

In his pre-tournament press conference at the Paris Masters, Monfils was asked if he and Svitolina were planning on bringing Skai with them to tournaments next year. Answering the question, Monfils admitted he and Svitolina have yet to figure out how to make all of this work in the best way possible.

"That's one of the first questions I need to find an answer to, and I don't have the answer yet. With Elena, we don't have the answer yet. We'll just try to enjoy this tournament and we'll think in one match at a time.

I have no answer for the rest of the year, for next year. I don't know how things will turn out, what arrangements we will make. What's funny about the situation, I'm sure you understand, but for the fans to understand, we are traveling, both of us, we are making sacrifices, her and I alike.

How shall I say? We don't want to be selfish. The two of us are selfish, and that's rule No 1 when you're parents. So there is a lot of questions to answer. How can we, the three of us, find a way and find the right momentum without leaving out Skai on the line.

I don't have any answer, and I don't want to think about it now, because it's kind of a puzzle," Monfils said. In a recent interview for Vogue, Svitolina revealed she and Monfils plan on having more kids once their tennis careers are over.

For now, Monfils and Svitolina are just trying to find the best solution to compete while simultaneously giving their daughter the best possible care.
