Novak Djokovic was glad with his Wimbledon performance versus Filip Krajinovic as he feels his level is getting better as the tournament progresses. On Friday, Djokovic saw off fellow Serbia Miomir Kecmanovic 6-0 6-3 6-4.
Djokovic was putting constant pressure on Kecmanovic's serve as he realized 6-of-14 of his break point chances. “I think I’ve been playing better and better as the tournament progresses," Djokovic said in his on-court interview, per the ATP website.
"That’s obviously something that you always wish for as a player, that every match that you play you raise the level of tennis up a notch at least, and I think that is what is happening at the moment. I know I can always do better.
I always expect the highest from myself, but I think so far, so good, and looking forward to the next challenge”.
Djokovic thought a good start was the key
Djokovic came out firing as he bageled Kecmanovic in the first set.
Kecmanovic lifted his level in the second and third sets but it wasn't enough to even come near to winning a set against Djokovic. Djokovic now has a 2-0 head-to-head versus Kecmanovic. “I thought I started off very, very well.
Very strong with a lot of good intensity, good focus," said Djokovic. "I know Miomir quite well, we train a lot obviously coming from Serbia. I’m really glad that he, alongside a couple of other players, is doing well. I wish him all the best, hopefully we will get to play many more times on the centre courts of the biggest tournaments”.
Djokovic will be playing rising Dutch star Tim van Rijthoven for a place in the Wimbledon quarterfinal. Djokovic and van Rijthoven will be going head-to-head for the first time when they meet at Wimbledon. Van Rijthoven recently lifted his maiden ATP title in 's-Hertogenbosch and Djokovic certainly won't be taking him for granted.
