The British tennis player Jack Draper hasn't had a particularly positive season, in 2023. Constant injuries have changed everything: Jack finds himself having to start again, even with some ranking difficulties. In a year in which many thought that the young tennis player could climb positions in the ATP ranking.
It should be underlined in my opinion that, in addition to the physical problems, Draper has never been consistent, experiencing many ups and downs throughout the entire season. However, in a recent interview, Jack said he was still satisfied with his 2023.
Speaking in an interview granted for Tennis Majors, Draper highlighted what the positive aspects of his season were.
Draper shares his real goal for 2024!
The Briton explained in the interview: "The Sofia final? I agree with Mannarino's analysis, it was a match that could have ended in one way or another, I think I played well, then maybe I dropped in the third set but I'm happy with my performance.
However, I recognize that my opponent was the better tennis player and deserved the result. What did I learn from this tournament? I would say a lot, especially in tackling Back to Back as tournaments, I had just arrived from Bergamo and immediately after I did another tournament.
I think it went well. In the end this is the life of a tennis player and this is reality, in fact I hope to live it more often. The constant goal is to reach the final stages of the tournament as often as possible. The lack of notoriety? Abroad I'm better known while in Great Britain they don't even recognize me on the street.
We recently had Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray there, I then missed the grass season and this had an impact. Despite the difficulties I think this year was incredible, especially the season finale. The shoulder problems kept me sidelined for some time and I was worried about the ranking, but the round of 16 at the US Open, the victory in Bergamo and the final in Sofia changed everything." Finally Jack reveals his goal for next year: "I want to play continuously and then in terms of ranking I want to enter the Top 20 during the season."
