USA's Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury of Great Britain have won their maiden Grand Slam team title at the Australian Open. Ram and Salisbury, seeded at No. 11, saw off Australian wildcard duo Max Purcell and Luke Saville 6-4 6-2 in the men's doubles final at Melbourne Park.
Ram and Salisbury converted just 1-of-10 of their break point chances in the first set but that was enough since they didn't face a break point in the opener. The No. 11 seeds improved their break point realization in the second set as they converted 2-of-2 of their break point opportunities.
The two breaks were more than enough for Ram and Salisbury, who served perfectly in the second set and finished the match without a break point allowed. Ram and Salisbury won 89 percent of their first serve points in just an hour and 10 minutes of play.
Ram, 35, and 27-year-old Salisbury were playing great tennis throughout the whole two weeks at Melbourne Park as they dropped just one set in six matches at the tournament.
