The former player Barbara Schett, in an interview with Eurosport, analyzed some aspects regarding Iga Swiatek that remind her of the 3-time Scottish Slam champion Andy Murray. The Eurosport commentator underlined how WTA No.1 could experience a moment similar to what Murray went through.

a few years ago. "Swiatek reminds me Andy Murray, when the Olympics were in London, at Wimbledon 2012, and he did well. Do you imagine her being able to win the French Open and the Olympics at the Roland Garros Stadium? That would be incredible.

And I think that's something she can do. I think that's something she would like to achieve too. I'm not too worried about her for the French clay court tournament, to be honest, the biggest challenge will be the other Grand Slam tournaments.

I see her winning big titles again. The year was probably average in terms of prestigious tournaments. She has only won one Slam. The main goal, however, I imagine, is to always show her best tennis in the match. I always have the feeling that it's a question of her mental approach, of how much she believes in herself.

The way she hits the forehand, sometimes she can shake a little when she has doubts. So if she's fresh mentally and she believes in herself, she's going to be hard to beat for pretty much anyone," explained Schett.

What goals does Swiatek set for 2024?

Despite some undeserved criticism and numerous improvements from Aryna Sabalenka, the WTA No.1 managed to end the year once again at the top of the women's world rankings.

Media, insiders and former tennis players have started to imagine what goals the Pole could achieve in the 2024 season: a particularly busy year for the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer. The surface chosen by the organizers is the red clay of the Roland Garros.

For Swiatek there will therefore be the possibility of triumphing twice in France, after the three Slams already won over Philippe-Chatrier.
