Wimbledon 2022: Rafael Nadal accuses Lorenzo Sonego of unsportsmanlike
by LORENZO CIOTTI
There was no lack of sparks during and at the end of the match between Rafael Nadal and Lorenzo Sonego in the 3rd round of Wimbledon 2022. The game was moving towards a quiet end, given the clear gap between the two players that the Spanish champion was keen to point out throughout the match.
However, an unexpected scene was triggered by the counter-break conquered in extremis by the Turin player in the third set. The Iberian did not take it well and, before the blue's serve, he went to the net to recall his opponent with his too annoying screams.
The Italian boy reacted in turn. The two then continued the meeting, with the 36-year-old who regained the break advantage and closed the games for good. At the end, both tennis players clarified and the winner of 22 Grand Slam titles apologized for what he had done, also reiterating it at the press conference.
