Russian tennis star Aslan Karatsev suggested that Daniil Medvedev had nothing to complain about after the Australian Open final. Medvedev voiced his displeasure with the crowd multiple times during the Australian Open final.
The majority of the crowd supported former world No. 1 Rafael Nadal. Throughout his career, Nadal has been a fan favorite pretty much everywhere he goes. Nadal received a great support from the Melbourne support and that helped him to claim a stunning comeback win over Medvedev.
Nadal recovered from two sets down to beat Medvedev 2-6 6-7 (5) 6-4 6-4 7-5 and lift a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title. "I think for me it's pretty normal (fans supporting Nadal), Nadal has just made his comeback and didn't play for almost half a year, of course fans will support him.
He's coming back from injury and the same thing happens if you play against Roger (Federer)..... so yeah I know it can be disturbing when fans try to distract you while serving and all, but I think sooner or later Daniil will realise that and move on," Karatsev said, as quoted on Zee News.
"The same thing happened with me (not getting supported or being booed from the crowd) but you cannot do anything like telling the fans 'c'mon you support me', that would not make sense."
Karatsev set to play Pune
Karatsev, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No.
15 in the world, is set to make his Pune debut this week. Karatsev, 28, tried to make the Pune main draw in 2020 but back then he lost his qualifying opener at the tournament. Two years later, Karatsev is the top-seeded player in the Pune main draw.
Karatsev had a first round bye at the tournament and he plays Elias Ymer in the round-of-16. Karatsev last played at the Australian Open, where he made the third round before losing to Adrian Mannarino. Karatsev has had a positive start to the year as he made it all the way in Sydney.
