Sebastian Ofner gets wildcard for Vienna

Austrian tennis player Sebastian Ofner has received a wildcard entry for next week's Erste Bank Open 500.

World No. 135 Ofner is set to make a main draw debut appearance in Vienna.

The Austrian fell just a step short of reaching the Vienna main draw a year ago.

Back then, Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff demolished Ofner in the final round of Vienna qualifying.

Ofner, 21, drew attention to himself this past Wimbledon.

Ofner won three qualifying matches at The Championships to make his Grand Slam debut.

The Austrian shocked well-established players Thomaz Bellucci and Jack Sock before he lost in the Wimbledon third-round to rising Alexander Zverev.

The Kitzbuhel organizers awarded Ofner with a wildcard after his Wimbledon campaign -- who then went on to reach semi-finals at the Austrian event.

Zverev, Dominic Thiem and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are just one of the names against whom Ofner could clash in Vienna next week.
