Dennis Novak was the first player who has received a main draw wild card for the upcoming ATP 250 event in Kitzbuhel and the organizers have decided to give the other two to Sebastian Ofner and Corentin Moutet. The 22-year-old Ofner is currently the fourth-best ranked Austrian on the ATP list and he has just won his first Challenger title in Astana.
This will be the fifth ATP tournament for Sebastian in his career, playing with a wild card in Kitzbuhel 12 months ago as well and reaching the semi-final following three wins over Nikoloz Basilashvili, Pablo Cuevas and Renzo Olivo.
Joao Sousa defeated him in the semi-final in two tie breaks and this was the breakthrough event for the youngster who will try to repeat something similar next week again. Sebastian can't be pleased with the way he played so far in 2018, unable to make a progress through the rankings, but he is hoping for more good results after that maiden Challenger title in Astana, aiming to get closer to the place in the Top 100.
The 19-year-old Corentin Moutet will be among the youngest players in the draw and this is his eight ATP tournament of the season, receiving a wild card thanks to the Octagon agency that runs this event. Corentin has been on a verge of entering the Top 100 after two good results in Sweden, losing in the final of Bastad Challenger and reaching the main draw at the same site on the ATP 250 level seven days later.
Corentin has scored three ATP wins this season, advancing into the last eight in Quito and prevailing against Ivo Karlovic at Roland Garros for his maiden Grand Slam triumph. Talented youngsters Jurij Rodionov and Thiago Seyboth Wild have earned the qualifying wild cards.
