Austrian tennis player Sebastian Ofner has added former doubles world No. 3 Alexander Peya to his coaching staff, per Lukas Zahrer. 39-year-old doubles specialist Peya hasn't played since losing his doubles opener with Nikola Mektic at the Sydney International in the second week of the season.
2013 US Open doubles runner-up Peya will now have a task of helping fellow compatriot Ofner to take his game to another level. Peya joins Wolfgang Thiem in the 23-year-old's coaching staff. World No. 167 Ofner drew attention to his name exactly two years when he made the Kitzbuhel semifinal as a wildcard in his maiden ATP tournament.
After a sensational ATP debut, the Austrians hoped Ofner was a star in the making. Yet, that wasn't the case as Ofner has been struggling to lift his game ever since he made the semifinal on the clay courts of Kitzbuhel.
Ofner's career appeared to be on the rise recently when he won the Puerto Vallarta Challenger in May and achieved a career-high ranking of No. 126 in the world following his winning run in Mexico. Unfortunately, Ofner has failed to build on his Puerto Vallarta winning run as he hasn't won back-to-back matches since making it all the way at the Mexican event.
