Marton Fucsovics addresses NSFW rant, calling Sebastian Baez 'a b----' in Lyon

Marton Fucsovics admitted he went over the line in calling Sebastian Baez "a b----" during their Lyon match and apologized to the Argentine for "using the words I shouldn't have used." On Tuesday, Fucsovics and Baez played a heated first-round match in Lyon.

During one changeover, Fucsovics asked Baez if he was 12 before calling him "a f------ 20-year-old" and "a b----." "Hi everyone, I would like to apologize for the way I behaved on my match today. In the heat of the moment, l used words that I shouldn't have.

As most of you know I always plaved with fair play even though I win or lose the match. I might be an older generation, where we (players) respect each other and beat each other with tennis," Fucsovics said in a message posted on his Instagram Story.

What happened between Fucsovics and Baez?

Fucsovics apparently got very annoyed by Baez's loud and frequent celebrations. "How old are you? 12 years old?" Fucsovics was heard ironically asking Baez during a changeover.

Baez responded: "No, 22." Fucsovics then unloaded on Baez: "Acting like a 12-year-old. These f------ young 20-year-old guys. Not that he is the only one. Playing so unfair. Vamos for every point I miss, screaming like a b----." After Fucsovics used several strong to describe Baez, the chair umpire jumped in and intervened.

"It's ok if you talk with me, but I don't want this kind of language. I understand that you are frustrated and that you don't like it, but I don't want these words. I'm happy to talk with you about it," the chair umpire told Fucsovics.

In the end, Fucsovics ended up losing to Baez in straight sets as the Argentine won 6-4 7-6 (5). Fucsovics, 31, and 22-year-old Baez played for the first time. It remains to be seen if there will be more Fucsovics-Baez meetings in the remainder of the season.
