Lorenzo Musetti did not enter the ATP circuit on tiptoe. With his performances, the Carrarese talent immediately amazed fans and professionals, attracting the attention of some of the sacred monsters of world tennis. Training with the big 3 before the games in the slams, congratulations and good words are now on the agenda for Lorenzo, despite a bad period of form following Roland Garros and the maturity sustained during the summer that prevented him from preparing the best of the Wimbledon tournament.
Just at Roland Garros, Musetti had left the scene to the applause of the lucky few who had managed to access the central court for the round of 16, but above all among those of those who had just beaten him: Novak Djokovic.
The number one in the world had to come back from two sets behind, with the Carrarese who had brought his tennis to a level that he could not hold for 5 sets. Physical problems had forced him to retire, but for Musetti the words of Djokovic, amazed, at the end of the challenge were sweet and auspicious for a future to be written in blue hues.
This may be why the Serbian's agent, Edoardo Artaldi, invited Lorenzo and his historic coach, Simone Tartarini, to train with the world number one in the villa that hosts him in New Jersey.
Djokovic got off to a great start at the US Open 2021
Lorenzo Musetti's coach Simone Tartarini has revealed that the Italian got a chance to train with Novak Djokovic ahead of his US Open second-round clash against Reilly Opelka.
"Yesterday we were talking with Edoardo Artaldi (Djokovic's manager) about the bad weather forecast and then he suggested we go and train with them, since luckily they have an indoor pitch," Tartarini said in a recent interview.
Tartarini then went on to describe the luxurious villa in New Jersey where Djokovic is staying, which is replete with a park and an indoor field. "The idea was immediately shared by both Vajda and Nole," Musetti's coach added.
"And now we are in this beautiful place in New Jersey, a villa with an immense park and an indoor field, owned by a private individual who could be defined as wealthy, where Nole is a guest during the tournament." World No.1 Novak Djokovic got off to a great start at the US Open 2021 as he defeated Holger Rune in four sets.
Even though the Serbian legend lost a close tie-breaker in the second set, he made sure that he won the next two sets to win the match. The final scoreline of the match was 6-1, 6(5)-7(6), 6-2, 6-1.
