Lorenzo Musetti: "I'm trying to play like Roger Federer"

Lorenzo Musetti granted an interview for the ATP Tour, talking about the similarities between his game and that of Roger Federer. A very interesting interview released by the Italian tennis player, who declared: "I like everything about him, but if I have to highlight one aspect I would say it's his style.

It's something unique, the combination of fun and elegance, like the ability to play relaxed and calm. I try to be like him, I have less control and sometimes I'm more nervous on the court, so I think I can do better if I compare myself to Federer.

But I think there are details where we have similarities, for example in movements, which is something I've always tried to do since I was a child." The Italian is expected to make a good debut at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, in Rome.

In the Center Court on the evening of Saturday 13 May, Musetti challenged his countryman Matteo Arnaldi, who has already defeated the Argentine Diego Schwartzman. Musetti said on the eve of the match which was then postponed to today due to rain: "Being here with my parents when I was a child and dreaming of playing this tournament as a tennis player are perhaps the best memories I have in my mind.

I have an image stuck in my head when I watched Roger Federer play doubles, where the training grounds are now. He has always been my inspiration and now when I play on that pitch I always remember his play and try to hit the ball like him and especially to move in a similar way”.

Today, Musetti ended the match agianst Arnaldi, wnning in straight sets for 6-4 6-4.

Musetti also talked about which are the best competitions according to his point of view: "After the Slams this is my favorite tournament, it's the one I've always wanted to play, because I feel something special like the support of the Italians.

Without a doubt the times I've come here have been the best," concluded the player coached by coach Simone Tartarini, who can't wait to make his debut in the capital.
