Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff is hoping that Peng Shuai is safe and added that he would have no problem if the ATP stopped holding tournaments in China. Peng went missing in China after accusing a former Chinese vice premier of sexual assault.
"It's a crazy situation. We hope that she is doing well and that she is safe. Even as a player at the ATP tour, I wouldn't have a problem if we stopped playing in China. I don't necessarily need to go there," Struff told SPOX.
Over the last 10 days, Peng videos surfaced in which Peng appears at a restaurant and tennis event.Jan-Lennard Struff on #PengShuai: "It's a crazy situation. However, the WTA is not fully sure that Peng has the freedom she needs to have and they have threatened China to pull out of 10 tournaments scheduled to take place in China in 2022. "If at the end of the day we don't see the appropriate results from this, we would be prepared to take that step and not operate our business in China, if that's what it came to," Simon said.
