Ugo Humbert reacts to stunning Stefanos Tsitsipas at Tokyo Olympics

Rising French star Ugo Humbert entered the court confident he could beat world No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas and he ended up claiming an upset win. Humbert, ranked at No. 28 in the world, overcame French Open runner-up Tsitsipas in three sets 2-6 7-6 (4) 6-2 to reach the Tokyo Olympics quarterfinal.

Humbert, 23, is having his maiden Olympic campaign. Humbert has had success against Tsitsipas in the past as well, beating the Greek at the Paris Masters last year. "Playing great matches against great players is my absolute joy, I love it.

I live for that. To compete with them, it allows me to see where I am (...) When I get on the court, I can play anyone, I believe in it 100 percent," Humbert said, per Quentin Moynet of L'Equipe.

Humbert recovered from a set down

Humbert served out the opening game of the but then lost his serve in back-to-back games as Tsitsipas won five consecutive games to take a 5-1 lead.

Humbert served out the seventh game to end Tsitsipas' run but the Greek served out for the opener in the following game. As not a single break point was seen in the second set, the set had to be resolved in a tie-break.

In the tie-break, the two players were tied at three points apiece after the opening six points but then humbert won three consecutive points to clinch three consecutive set points. Tsitsipas saved the first set point but couldn't save the second as Humbert forced a decider.

After losing the second set, Tsitsipas served out the opening game of the second set. Humbert then went on a match-deciding run as he earned back-to-back breaks to win five games in a row and take a 5-1 lead. Tsitsipas served out the seventh game to end Humbert's run and reduce the deficit to 5-2.

In the eighth game, Humbert saved four break points before realizing his fourth set match point to complete a comeback win.
