Former world No. 1 Andy Murray admitted he didn't know Ugo Humbert that well coming into their match but he was happy that he managed to execute his game plan and escape with a win. Murray, who received a wild card for Metz, beat sixth-seeded Humbert 4-6 6-3 6-2 in his opener at the tournament.
“I had some chances early in the first set and didn’t take them, then he had his break point at the end of the first set and hit a really good return,” said Murray in an on-court interview, per the ATP website.

Murray recovered after losing the first set
Humbert claimed the first break of the match in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead. Murray had a chance to break back Humbert in the 10th game but the Frenchman saved two consecutive break points before realizing his third set point to win the opener.
Murray responded well to losing the first set as he earned his first break of the match in the eighth game of the second set to take a 5-3 lead. In the following game, Murray saved a break point before realizing his second set point to force a decider.
After winning the second set, Murray started the third set with back-to-back breaks and a 4-0 lead. Murray saved three break points in the sixth game and two more in the eighth game to complete a comeback win. Murray plays next against former world No. 25 Vasek Pospisil.
