Tommy Paul expressed his opinion on his young countryman Ben Shelton, underlining his strengths and what distinguishes him from all the other young tennis players on the Tour. "It's fun to see him around the Tour. He's definitely young.

He has that boyish energy, so he's very funny. I didn't know much about Shelton. When he first came on Tour, I wouldn't say I took him under my wing or anything like that, but I liked him and I knew he was going to be good," said Paul, as reported by Tennis 365.

The US finally focused on the growth of North American tennis. "We have a lot of great players, so it's nice to see such young guys emerge. We are at the top of tennis," he told.

Shelton reveals his big talent, in 2023

Before 2023, Shelton had never played a tournament away from the United States.

The young US tennis star immediately showed off, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. His incredible journey was stopped by his countryman Tommy Paul, who then lost in three sets against Novak Djokovic in the semi-final.
Paul and Shelton, in addition to the match played in Melbourne, competed at the US Open and in Tokyo: in both cases the tennis player born in 2002 triumphed.
Shelton subsequently had to face the difficulties that all tennis players encounter when they start attending the ATP Tour, but he still showed his talent in the final part of the season.

The American reached the semifinals at the US Open and won the first tournament of his young career in Tokyo, clearly beating Russian Aslan Karatsev in the final. Shelton ended the year at 17th position in the ATP world ranking and could make the definitive leap in quality in 2024.

The Nord American young tennis player will star the upcoming season from the Australian Swing, where he will try to improve the reseults got last year.
