Casper Ruud matches a Novak Djokovic's record!

Casper Ruud is now firmly inside the Top-10. It is September 13, 2021 when the Norwegian tennis player makes his first entry into the top ten in the world. Since then, the current world No.5 has never left the men's Top-10. They are 100 weeks that this year's Roland Garros finalist has spent as one of the top ten players in the world.

On Monday 8 August 2023, Casper started week 101: he is the number 80 tennis player in history to be able to spend all these weeks in the Top-10. Among active tennis players, he is only the 16th. The secrets of this achievement are not such.

Since then, the tennis player from Oslo has won only 250 tournaments, but in the big events he was only one step away from glory: twice at the Roland Garros; once at the US Open. And a final also at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.

There are 15 other players who have managed to achieve the same goal as Casper Ruud. However, for the two-time French Open finalist, the 100 weeks in the top 10 are consecutive: since that September 2021, he has never come out among the ten best players in the world.

Only two other tennis players have managed to do this, among those active (considering Rafael Nadal out for the whole of 2023 due to physical problems): Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. For the Norwegian, also a finalist at the ATP Finals, it was a gradual climb up to touch the top with a finger, but without ever really grabbing it.

In the final of the US Open against Carlos Alcaraz, the two contenders fought not only for the victory of the first Grand Slam title of their career, but also for the world record. It was the Spanish tennis player who triumphed, making all in; while Ruud had to settle for second position in the ranking.
