Casper Ruud is one of the strongest tennis players of his generation. The three Grand Slam finals reached in recent years have pushed him to be considered a true top player. The Norwegian has won 10 ATP titles at the age of almost 25, although he has not yet gone beyond victories at the ATP 250.
The former number 2 in the world ranking does not consider this to be a problem, on the contrary, he claims to be one of the players with the best chance of winning an important title in the coming years. He told: "I accept that they were better than me on those days.
They have a better record than me in terms of years on tour as well. But the fact I got to those finals will hopefully help me win 1 one day. Compared to other guys who are 25, 26 or 19, 20 years old.. I’m 1 of the players who reached more GS finals.
My self belief that I can do it is maybe higher than other guys."
Casper Ruud wants big titles
As proof of his hunger for important titles, the Scandinavian champion recently declared this: "I'm sitting here with 10 titles and all 250, I wouldn't say it bothers me.
Obviously I also want to try to win a bigger and more important title, it's something I won't hide." On this desire he added and concluded: "That's why we're working hard to get to the finals and then bring them home. You are remembered more if you manage to win the closing acts, not lose them.
I hope it's just a matter of time, I'll keep working hard." The Norwegian will also try to achieve great results at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati and at the US Open. Ruud is trying to get his first important title of his young career, he US Open Series could be a good opportunity to try to achieve this goal.
