Novak Djokovic revealed that he was "doubting my game a lot" going into this year's French Open due to his not-so-great results in the leading up tournaments. This year, Djokovic won his third French Open title after beating Casper Ruud in the final at Roland Garros.

After winning his seventh ATP Finals title on Sunday, Djokovic was asked what he learned about himself as a player and person this year. While answering the question, Djokovic proceeded to make quite a revelation.

I learned and confirmed once again that the right scheduling and programming is giving me the benefits and the results that I want to. I really wasn’t happy with my clay court season up to Roland Garros, was doubting my game a lot.
But then I do have a great team of people around me that remind me of the fact that I should trust the process. Normally in the Grand Slams I’m a different player, and it’s true. That was one of the key turning points I think of the season for me, winning the 23rd slam in Paris.
That gave me wings for the rest of the year. Since then, I lost two matches and won many tournaments," Djokovic said. Djokovic then answered the second part of the question, where he explained that balancing well the private and professional life is the key to success.
"As a person, balance of the private and professional life is the key. It’s different for everyone. We are all different individuals," Djokovic said. At 36, Djokovic had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023.
