World No. 133 Corentin Moutet wasn't impressed with Alexander Bublik's shade, saying that some people become "too talkative" when cameras are around. A couple of days ago, Bublik, Casper Ruud, and Benoit Paire sat down for a conversation on the latest episode of UTS's "All on the Table."
One of the topics they discussed was Ruud's 2022 US Open run, during which the 25-year-old Norwegian made the final. On paper, Ruud didn't really have a tough job of making a deep US Open run that year as he had to beat Kyle Edmund, Tim van Rijthoven, Tommy Paul, and Moutet en route to the quarterfinal.
“What the hell is this draw? Except Tommy. But at the time Tommy was 20 [in the world], not 12," Bublik said on UTS's "All on the Table."
In the US Open round-of-16, world No. 11 Ruud beat former world No. 51 Moutet 6-1 6-2 6-7 (4) 6-2 to set up a quarterfinal meeting against Matteo Berrettini. After hearing that Ruud had to beat Moutet for a US Open quarterfinal spot, Bublik said: “So Moutet fourth round, who is quarter-final… Cachin? I’m sorry, no offense, but..."

For 24-year-old Moutet, reaching the US Open round-of-16 in 2022 remains his best Grand Slam result. At Flushing Meadows, Moutet also made the third round in 2020 before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Outside of the US Open, Moutet's best result is the French Open third round reached in 2019. When it comes to the Australian Open and Wimbledon, Moutet has never made it past the second round at those tournaments.
In 2023, Moutet didn't enjoy much Grand Slam success. In the first three Grand Slam tournaments of the year at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, Moutet picked up three consecutive second-round exits. Moutet's worst Grand Slam result of the 2023 season came at the US Open, where he lost to Andy Murray in the first round.
