Hubert Hurkacz met with a painful accident during one of the matches at the Laver Cup, being inadvertently hit in the private parts by Ben Shelton. Inadvertently, the American hit a powerful forehand on the lower parts of the Polish tennis player, who was unable to move out of the way or put the racket in front of his body in time.

Hubert inevitably ended up on the ground due to the great pain, to the general amazement on the bench and among the crowd present in the stands. His teammate Gael Monfils immediately rushed to help him, trying to get the Warsaw native to recover quickly.

And the apologies came immediately from the young American talent, who naturally had no intention of hitting the athlete fully, especially in that rather sensitive area.

The episode happened in the second game of the match and did not affect the Polish tennis player's performance during the match.

In the end it was Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime who prevailed with the final score of 7-5, 6-4, obtaining the last two points up for grabs on the second day of competition. Thanks to the success of the American couple, the World team led by John McEnroe has reached 10-2 and is in sight of the finish line.

In fact, just one victory will be enough for the team in red to become champions at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Tiafoe and Shelton will immediately try in doubles to effectively close the contest. In case of defeat, and it would be the second of the entire competition, given that so far only Casper Ruud has brought points for team Europe, it would be up to Taylor Fritz to try to earn the decisive success.

Meanwhile, Gael Monfils has not taken in good taste the criticisms received in the last few hours on social media, triggered after the argument he had on the pitch with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The expert French tennis player decided to write a long message on social media to express his disappointment: "I am tired of these incessant and futile controversies.

Some people seem to get excited by trifles. I'm annoyed by people who make hasty judgments.

Some might think that because I smile and have fun, I'm not serious. Of course, my vision may be different, but I always try to follow the guidelines given to me. At 37 I'm just trying to make the most of every moment."
