World No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas has underlined that winning a Grand Slam remains his major goal but highlights that he must stay healthy in order to give himself a real shot at winning a Slam.

Tsitsipas, 25, has been one of the best players on the Tour for several years but he hasn't yet made his big Grand Slam breakthrough. However, Tsitsipas has had some strong Slam results - most notably losing to Novak Djokovic in the 2021 French Open and 2023 Australian Open finals. After finishing as runner-up at this year's US Open, Tsitsipas was a quarterfinalist at the French Open, while he exited Wimbledon in the round-of-16 and suffered a shock US Open second-round defeat.

After battling a shoulder injury in early 2023, Tsitsipas dealt with a back injury late in the season.

“I want to win a Grand Slam title, that is also a goal of mine. For sure, in order for me to do these things I need to be healthy because there was a time this season where certain circumstances didn’t allow me to perform at 100 percent; what I’m talking about those instances, they appeared after the Australian Open this year, and towards the end of the season. I’m just hoping not to be that limited and to explore further in 2024," Tsitsipas told The National.

Tsitsipas on if his maiden Slam win can come in Australia

After reaching three Australian Open semifinals between 2019 and 2022, Tsitsipas made his first final at Melbourne Park in 2023 January. Unfortunately for Tsitsipas, he didn't do well in his first Australian Open final as Djokovic beat him in straight sets. The Australian Open has undoubtedly been one of Tsitsipas' best Slams but the Greek insists he is not thinking too much about his past results in Australia.

“I can definitely gain confidence from that (making the 2023 Australian Open final). However, I don’t reminisce and I don’t think too much about what happened in Australia this year. My whole plan is to reboot myself and get myself going for something absolutely new this season with a different quality of tennis I may say," Tsitsipas said.
