University of Virginia Andres Pedroso named Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year!

University of Virginia head coach Andres Pedroso has been named the Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, it announced. Pedroso was also the 2022 Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year after leading the No.

7 Cavaliers to the NCAA title, winning 23 straight games to close out that season. He was the 2014 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year in his previous stint with the Cavaliers. He is the first coach since the award's inception in 1973 to earn the honor in consecutive seasons.

Pedroso led the Cavaliers to the 2023 NCAA Championship, the second straight title for the team. UVA posted a 30-4 record, including a third straight 12-0 streak on the conference schedule and third straight ACC Tournament championship.

Virginia won 22 consecutive games to close out the season. This is the fourth time a UVA head coach has been named an ITA National Award Winner with Brian Boland earning the accolade in 2008 and 2016. This is also the 36th time a Virginia head coach has been named the national coach of the year in their respective sports.

Women's Swimming Head Coach Todd DeSorbo also earned National Coach of the Year honors this season. Virginia athletics director Carla Williams said: "Congratulations to Andres Pedroso on being named the Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
