"I've done everything, I feel good, we're on schedule.

But it's too early to make a prediction. Simply put: I had a really cold start in Australia and the hardest I've had so far. But this is precisely what motivates me." One of the great seasonal goals for the German tennis player is the Olympics which will be held in Paris on some of the clay courts of Roland Garros.

Kerber has invited her countryman Alexander Zverev to pair up with her in Olympic competition. "When we meet in Australia, we will definitely talk about it, it would make me very happy. The Paris Olympics are the highlight and playing for Germany is always an honor," she stressed.

Finally, she talked about the possibility of being the flag-bearer of the German national team during the opening ceremony of the Olympics to be held in France, declaring: "It would be indescribable for any athlete to enter with the German flag, and it is also my dream." The former world number 1 and winner of 3 Slams is absent from Wimbledon 2022, the period in which she discovered she was pregnant and gave birth to her daughter Liana in February this year.

In the season that begins she will be forced to rebuild her ranking from 0. Kerber will prepare for the Australian Open - Major won in 2016 - through the United Cup, which will begin on December 29th and the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide which will start in January 8th.
