Many were surprised after the US team showed a poor performance, especially on Friday. Zach Johnson's team failed to lift the trophy, and disappointment can be felt among US fans. There are many theories as to why US golfers were far from their level.

Many believe that the huge break after the last tournament until the Ryder Cup created a serious problem for the US team. Jordan Spieth agreed; "The entire day Friday, was not what we were looking to do. And it's really hard to come back in an away game when you fall so far behind.

If you asked us when we would like to play the Ryder Cup relative to our schedule, I think we would probably say, give us a week after The Tour Championship or two weeks after and then go, instead of five."- he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com!

Jordan Spieth: I'd like to feel pretty sharp going in

Jordan Spieth believes that if the Ryder Cup was played closer to the Tour Championship, the US team would be much better. The long break had an effect on them. It was clear that they lacked competitive spirit, and that the huge break had taken its toll.

However, this will be a huge lesson for them in the future. The US team will have to take the task much more seriously and show much more next time if they want to win. "For me personally, I'd like to feel pretty sharp going in and obviously individually, I did not have the opportunity to even play any of those events where I may have.

But that's just how I feel. If it were tighter to our Tour Championship and/or even if it were later and we had more of an opportunity to get a little rest and play more of an event or something, then it helps a bit."
